The publication provides an overview of the wide range of the LENIKUS group's long-standing involvement in the Viennese art scene. It looks back on 25 years of collecting activities as well as 15 years of supporting young artists and serves as a starting point for a discussion on the potential of cultural sponsorship through interim use: the availability of space is a key factor for the development of artistic and creative scenes in Vienna. Activating vacant space and transforming it into a vibrant center for exchange and artistic production forms has been a focal point of the LENIKUS group's private cultural engagement from the outset. The publication reflects on topics such as space for creative work, artist-in-residence programs, and interim use with scientific essays, reports on specific projects, and interviews. Contributions and exhibition documentations intersect with a selection of works from the LENIKUS COLLECTION. While the displayed works reveal the personal taste of Gabriele and Martin Lenikus, they also make trends in the Viennese art scene visible and thus allow for their contextualization in an international environment.
